reminiscing

one of my all-time favorite teachers was retiring this year, so me and a couple of friends met up to go to her retirement open house.  it was good to see her and see our old pictures that she had displayed.  oh, the early 90s....cute hair.

she seriously was the best.  she helped instill a love of learning for me that has never left.

1st grade program

In April Easton had his 1st grade program.  He was so cute.  I got there 20 minutes early to get a good seat, and I had a really good one, until the tallest man alive sat in front of me.  Also, the teachers that were helping with the songs came and blocked my view of Easton pretty good.  Lame.

This was his art project hanging on the wall of the gym.

Easton with his amazing teachers.  on the right is his Port. teacher, on the left is his English teacher.  We love them both.

spring break, continued

One day we went to the boardwalk and got ham and cheese croissants (so yum) and doughnut holes (extra yum) and went to a park to have a little picnic.  It was kind of chilly in the shade where the tables were, so Easton went to go sit in the sun.  Remy and Kasen wanted to follow him and be just like their big cousin.

Sweet baby.  This one is so good, you almost forget he is there.

We did Ooblek one day.  The kids thought it was so fun.

cali, children's museum

While in California we went to the Children's Museum there.  It was way crowded, because it was California's spring break also, but it was still fun.

Shelley's car is big enough to fit all of us.  With her three in the middle seat and my two in the back seat, it was anything but a quiet ride, but it was nice to be able to drive all together.

At the museum they had an Indiana Jones exhibit, which Easton loved, and outside in a little courtyard they had a huge bubble exhibit and then an awesome bubble magic show.

The kids got to meet Bob the Builder.

After we were leaving, standing next to the bubble poster.

While at the museum, we were in the dinosaur section and the worst thing happened.  Easton got lost.  I thought he was right behind me, and with 5 kids 7 and under, and just me and my sister, it got crazy.  I noticed he was not by us, and the dinosaur section is not that big, so I started walking around looking for him.  I circled the dino section twice and started to panic.  A dad came up to me and said, "Are you looking for a little boy in an orange shirt?"  I said, "Yes!!"  He said, "We saw him crying and took him to a worker and they took him to the front of the museum."  I. felt. horrible.  The whole thing was probably not more than 5 minutes, but it felt SO much longer.
At least I knew he was safe, in the safety of the staff, at the front office, rather than all the horrible things running through my mind...  So I went to the front of the museum and he was standing in the office crying.  I just went up and hugged him and kept saying, "I am so sorry!"  worst feeling.  He stuck to me like glue after that and still now, a month later, won't let go of my hand in public.  I have scarred my child for life.

spring break--california style

For the kids spring break we hopped in the car (kind of impromptu) and headed for California.  We stayed in Vegas one night, and then on to visit the cousins.

We did a beach day, always a favorite with my kids.

The kids found a starfish on the beach.  We took quick pictures, and then put it back in the ocean....although I think it was already dead when we found it.

We stayed from Tuesday until Saturday, which was probably too long for Shelley to host us, but it was nice to get away from the weird weather in Utah.  When we left it was POURING, and it was nice to have a calm, steady 75 degrees.

um....wow

So...I have been horrible at blogging, and not just blogging, but taking pictures in general.  Sad.
So, a quick recap.
December....new winter hats from Oma and Opa.
January....how we spend our time while brother is at school.  lots and lots and lots of ponies.  (or lately her obsession has been Wizards of Waverly Place on Disney.)
Easton had a parent day at school in his Portuguese class and they got to have pizza and root beer floats.  I was lucky enough to go and spend some time with him and help him make a sock puppet, Bobby.  (they have 2 sock puppets in class, Bobby and Nina)

February....Keagan's valentines box for preschool.  (Easton's was the same, but with teeth instead of lips...and bushy eyebrows instead of eyelashes)
and you can't take a picture of Keagan without a funny face one.
March....Easton turns 7!!!  We had a friend party at Nickel City - 16 little kids (all the little boys from his Portuguese class, plus 2 neighbor kids and 2 cousins).  Totally hectic, but totally worth it.  They all had so much fun.
Then back to our house to open family gifts and have dinner with Grandma and Buddy.  He wanted Tikka Masala - his absolute favorite dinner.
Spring soccer started.  This is Keagan's first year.  Hilarious watching the preschool league.  Parker kept saying she was going to be our soccer player, but I kept thinking, "Um, she will probably be the little girl on the field doing dances with a friend."  Parker bought her a new pink soccer ball and I found the neon pink shorts and shin guards.  She was so excited and would even go out and "practice" by herself.  I then thought maybe Parker was right.  Then the first game....she is the only girl on her team, which I think bummed her out a LOT and she is one of the oldest preschoolers, so she kept saying her team is full of "little kids".  Sigh.  She has only had one game so far, but lets hope she gets a better attitude from here on out.  She kind of just stood in the middle of the field and sulked.
However, she NEVER misses an opportunity to pose for the camera.

Easton also started spring soccer and has done AWESOME.  He was mad when I signed him up (this seems to be a pattern) but has since come to enjoy it and listens really well to his coach.

Well, that is a recap of 4 months.  Lets hope I do better lately....
