Yesterday was an extremely long day.
Started out fine--normal or as normal as our house can get.
At 6:00pm the phone rings.
The man told me his name and what company he was with, but I couldn't hear him that well.
Then I heard the dreaded words.
"Your husband has been in an accident."
My heart stopped.
My body flushed and I was suddenly cold and clammy.
He followed quickly with, "He is okay, but we are taking him in the ambulance to the ER. Can you meet us down there?"
I tell Easton to quickly find his and Keagan's shoes because they are going to go to Grandma's.
I call my mom and, luckily, she is there.
I ask if I can bring the kids and she tells me she and my dad are on their way out to a basketball game, but Ashley will be there.
I tell her Parker has been in an accident.
Took the kids over and cried the whole way to the hospital.
I couldn't catch my breath.
My heart was beating way too fast and the car in front of me was driving way too slow.
Strapped to a backboard, with a neck brace on.
He was talking and moving his limbs, which calmed me somewhat.
The nurse leaves the room and I tear up.
Parker looks at me the best he can with the neck brace on and tears up.
Then we wait. Lots and lots of waiting.
Parker's brother, Lawton, came down and called Parker's friend, Troy, to come.
Troy got there and they gave Parker a priesthood blessing.
We all talked for a while and then Troy left around 9:00pm.
They did a CT scan. We waited for the results.
Then they did an MRI. We waited for the results.
Our friends, Enoch and Alayne, came down and sat with us for a while.
Lawton left shortly after the MRI.
Enoch and Alayne stayed until about 11:45pm.
We waited.
Then they decided on a shoulder xray because Parker's shoulder was hurting badly.
We waited for the results.
Finally a doctor came in and told us nothing was broken, no spinal cord damage, no nerve damage.
They gave us a sling and a prescription for some heavy duty pain killers and said to come back in a week.
The accident happened at 5:30pm.
We didn't get home until 2:00am.
Long night.
We couldn't open the trunk or any doors besides the driver's door.
I am so thankful for this car because it is strong and hefty.
I can't imagine how Parker would be if it wasn't.
Parker's sister, Carrie, said Abbey (Parker's sister who passed away ten years ago in a car accident) had to have been there to watch out for him.
Looking at the pictures, I think she is right.

Oh my gosh Julie! How scary. I'm SO glad he's doing alright. PLEASE call me if you ever need someone to watch the kiddie's! I know you have your parents and family close by...but just in case, I'm here!
It was a scary time for Easton too. Keagan just kept saying, "Where's my daddy?" but not with much concern. Easton, on the other hand kept saying with a little quiver in his chin, "Will my daddy be alright. I sure love my daddy." Broke my heart. Yesterday, he was having sympathy pains and kept saying, "My shoulder hurts. I was in a car accident." I think he wants a blue sling -- just like Daddy. Anyway, Parker, we love you too and are glad things weren't worse!! Mama Liz
Yikes! I'm glad he's okay! That is a very crunched up car.
I'm so sorry! I'm glad that he's ok and everything is ok! How scary!
OH my goodness. I am glad it wasn't any worse. What a nightmare.
I got chills reading that! I am so glad that Parker is okay and I hope he continues to feel better!
I am so glad he is OK, What a scary thing. Hope all is ok. I am reading those sweet things your mom wrote about what Easton said and started crying. It is so scary for a child. Glad all is ok. The car looks horrible.
I am so glad that Parker is alright. I am so sorry that you had to go through this.
