Aquarium

At the end of March, Keagan's preschool had a field trip to the aquarium.  I took Easton along and was able to get him back in time for Kindergarten....only being 10 minutes late!
Um, yea....Easton's hair was a MOP!  After seeing these pictures, Parker took him to get his haircut.  :)
The kids loved it and liked that we just wandered the aquarium by ourselves.

Easton loved this...it was by the tank for the electric fish and when you put your fingers on it, you got a small tingle in your fingers.  He thought it was awesome.  Keagan screamed....

A fun, quick trip to the local aquarium.  Nice for a windy, cold, spring day.

random

yay for the chocolate syrup I found in my cupboard which means chocolate milk at dinnertime.

yay that my kids are actually playing together right now, although it is so loud in my house....at least it is happy loudness.

yay for Easton's little friend that lives 2 doors down that comes over to play and is actually nice to Keagan.  yay that his mom is awesome and lets both kids come to her house as well.

boo that they are moving in 2 months to AUSTRALIA.  not even close enough to still get together.  :(

yay that despite the coldness and grayness today, the kids were able to have some outside time today.

more yays than boos.  good enough for me.

Keagan's new boyfriend

Keagan's boyfriend, according to her, is Justin Bieber.  She even calls him on her toy phone and plans dates with him.  This is a picture that she drew of him.  Pretty handsome, if I do say so myself.  :)
She is so into art lately and I love it.  Easton couldn't care less about coloring, painting, etc, but Keagan will sit and do it with so much detail.

green, green, we love green

could these be the cutest kids you have ever seen?  yes, they could.

outtakes:
 "Keagan, don't kiss me!"
"Whatever, just do it and leave me alone."
 funny faces
extra funny face

We set up a trap out of Legos last night to try and catch a leprechaun.  Sadly, he got away, but he did leave a note for the kids and some chocolate treats.  He also colored our milk green (the kids loved that).

May your day be filled with GREEN!

Guess who is 6?

this adorable boy.  He said it was the best birthday ever.  Phew.  :)

We started out singing (loudly) to an embarrassed boy in the morning.  Then school (we took doughnuts yesterday because his teacher was going to be gone on his actual birthday).  While Easton was at school, Keagan and I baked an awesome cake and wrapped the presents in Christmas paper and packing tape.  (Yep, I'm awesome and super prepared.)  Then we went to go get him from school and go out to lunch with Daddy.  We went to J Dawgs and Easton informed me while eating the hot dog that was as big as he, "This is the BEST hot dog I ever had!"  Then the boys went to a birthday movie, "John Carter."
Then we met my mom and sister at Chuck E Cheese (1st time my kids have been there) and had a little birthday party there.  We had pizza and the kids played games and got silly prizes with their tickets.  They were in heaven.  After that we went back home and had cake and ice cream and opened presents.  Whew.  Busy day for a six year old, but he said it was the best ever.

Keagan was terrified of this ride and after I took this picture almost broke into tears begging to get off.
 Easton loved it.
This one was more Keagan's speed, one that barely moves....
 Back at home, opening presents.
a REAL horseshoe from Oma and Opa.  Oma went to the George Strait Ranch to get it for Easton.
 "This is awesome!"
 Cheese!
He told me the candles were gross.
Love these two crazies.

Happy birthday, Easton.  You are such an awesome kid and a sweet, sweet boy!  We love you so much.

I'm pretty awesome

while in the kitchen with Keagan baking a cake for the 6 year old, we had music on and were singing and dancing.  Keagan looks at me and says, "Mom, stop it, you are creeping me out."

nice.

I'm pretty awesome at dancing, I guess.  enough to creep out a 4 year old.

Easton's bday is today and will post later about it.  :)

some needed R and R

This past weekend the kids and I went up to Park City with my mom.  It was a nice, needed break.  My car has been broken for the past month, so I was feeling very stir-crazy.
We went swimming a couple of times, saw The Lorax, and played in the snow.
The snowplow at my parents condo built us a nice hill for the kids to sled down.  It was over 6 feet.

Keagan wasn't feeling too great, and didn't last long the first day playing, but did better the 2nd day.

This is what I got when I told Keagan to smile.
 Making snow angels
Keagan didn't have any snow pants this year, although there hasn't been much snow, so it hasn't mattered much.  We went and got some and got a size big to last for next year.  She loved them.

 Yes, I was there!

 Mmmm, snow.

 Starting to make a snowman

Our finished snowman.  We made him right by a turn in the cross-country ski track, so the skiers could enjoy him.

It was so pretty up there with all the snow, and much needed relaxation.

dinosaur museum and Bean museum

Keagan's preschool had a field trip in January to the BYU dinosaur museum and the Bean museum.  Easton got to tag along with us.
 Easton, Keagan, Brecken
 Keagan

at the Bean museum--the reptile show
the kids got to pet a real snake at the end.  both kids did it and were so proud of themselves.

a few minutes....

Easton has been "sick" this whole week, so no school.  He woke up Sunday morning with an ugly rash on his forehead and after me giving him children's benadryl with no help, we trotted off to the pediatrician Monday.  They tested him for strep (sometimes strep can come in a rash...who knew?), negative (yay and huge sigh of relief), and came to the conclusion that he has a bacterial rash that is contagious.  So, off to the pharmacy to get antibiotics and to set up the house to be quarantined.  I am hoping that he can go back to school tomorrow.  The rash is looking better and he has too much energy to be pent up in the house for 4 days straight.

The kids are watching Labyrinth right now and I think that is the only time it has been quiet in my house for several minutes at a time.  Sigh.

randomness

Keagan told me the other day, "Sometimes I have bad dreams about someone stealing my ice cream."

Easton has his 1st loose tooth!  He was complaining about something being in between his bottom teeth.  As we were brushing his teeth I asked him which tooth it was that something was stuck.  He showed me and there was nothing there, so I wiggled it, and sure enough, it is loose.  I was so excited!  He seemed a bit nervous along with excited, but has since become very excited and tries to wiggle it all the time.  I think it still has some time before it is loose enough to come out, but still, a momentous occasion.

I have the January/February blues.  These months seem so long.  This year seems worse than last year--even though the weather is warmer.  Maybe because my kids are older and want to be out and playing more.  I usually love the winter and the snow, but with no snow, winter is gray and yucky.  I am looking forward to warmer weather and park days.

Easton is getting better and better at sounding out words with reading.  It is so exciting seeing him figure it out.  He brings home a little book every day from school and that is his homework.  We read it three times and then I sign it off and send it back for a new one.  At the beginning of the year the first book had 2 words in it, "see" and "Sam."  Now, he is reading books with an actual story line.  It makes a momma proud.
