pink is good

I painted my fingernails pink last night while the kids were asleep and when Keagan noticed them today she was so excited. She kissed every single nail. I should paint my nails pink more often.

big brother and little sister

This was a couple of days ago and they were actually playing well together (gasp!).
They were so excited to watch a movie on my iPod.

Parker Update

Update on Parker--we went into the family doctor on Thursday and the doctor thinks his rotator cuff might be torn, wants to keep an eye on it.

He sent Parker to a chiropractor that specializes in accident victims. He went on Friday and they did a deep tissue massage and then went again today and met with the chiropractor. The chiropractor said that he wants Parker to come in every day this week (sigh) except Thursday because his neck is so messed up right now. They will work on the back and shoulder later.

He has been going to work as much as he can, a few hours a day, but he seems to get tired a LOT quicker than normal. I keep telling him to take it slow, but it is driving him crazy. I told him if he messes himself up permanently, I will go crazy. :)

Slowly, but hopefully we will see results with the chiropractor.

We got the insurance money for our car and luckily we didn't have to haggle at all, they gave us what we thought the car was worth. Now, to find a new one....stay tuned!

Just like Daddy

Easton wants to be just like Daddy.

yesterday

Yesterday was an extremely long day.
Started out fine--normal or as normal as our house can get.
At 6:00pm the phone rings.
The man told me his name and what company he was with, but I couldn't hear him that well.
Then I heard the dreaded words.
"Your husband has been in an accident."
My heart stopped.
My body flushed and I was suddenly cold and clammy.
He followed quickly with, "He is okay, but we are taking him in the ambulance to the ER. Can you meet us down there?"
I tell Easton to quickly find his and Keagan's shoes because they are going to go to Grandma's.
I call my mom and, luckily, she is there.
I ask if I can bring the kids and she tells me she and my dad are on their way out to a basketball game, but Ashley will be there.
I tell her Parker has been in an accident.
Took the kids over and cried the whole way to the hospital.
I couldn't catch my breath.
My heart was beating way too fast and the car in front of me was driving way too slow.
I get there and find him like this.
Strapped to a backboard, with a neck brace on.
He was talking and moving his limbs, which calmed me somewhat.
The nurse leaves the room and I tear up.
Parker looks at me the best he can with the neck brace on and tears up.
Then we wait. Lots and lots of waiting.
Parker's brother, Lawton, came down and called Parker's friend, Troy, to come.
Troy got there and they gave Parker a priesthood blessing.
We all talked for a while and then Troy left around 9:00pm.
They did a CT scan. We waited for the results.
Then they did an MRI. We waited for the results.
Our friends, Enoch and Alayne, came down and sat with us for a while.
Lawton left shortly after the MRI.
Enoch and Alayne stayed until about 11:45pm.
We waited.
Then they decided on a shoulder xray because Parker's shoulder was hurting badly.
We waited for the results.
Finally a doctor came in and told us nothing was broken, no spinal cord damage, no nerve damage.
They gave us a sling and a prescription for some heavy duty pain killers and said to come back in a week.
The accident happened at 5:30pm.
We didn't get home until 2:00am.
Long night.
I went with my mom and the kids today to get pictures of the car and try to salvage anything I could.
We couldn't open the trunk or any doors besides the driver's door.
I am so thankful for this car because it is strong and hefty.
I can't imagine how Parker would be if it wasn't.
Parker's sister, Carrie, said Abbey (Parker's sister who passed away ten years ago in a car accident) had to have been there to watch out for him.
Looking at the pictures, I think she is right.

a pirate, a hat-less witch, and pumpkins!

Halloween has come and gone.
We did do pumpkins a few days before and the kids loved it.
Easton was a little hesitant to get the "guts" out of the pumpkin, but finally relented. He was excited to roast the seeds with me and helped me get the seeds out of the guts.
nice.

Keagan got to decorate her pumpkin/squash with a marker. She loved it.
(Apparently this is her new thing when I ask her to smile....I have about four of this face.)
Mmmm. Halloween donuts.

Just before going trick-or-treating.
Easton was a pirate and on request would say, "Argh, Matey!"
Keagan refused to wear her witch's hat, and anytime I asked her she would say, "No, hair." So, I curled her hair a bit and put glitter on her face and she was a pretty princess.

stubborn Keagan

Last night Easton got to go to a basketball game with Grandma and Buddy, so Keagan had me and Parker all to herself. She loved it, of course.

She was getting out all the toys and shoes and boots....pretty normal for her.
It was bedtime and Parker told her to put the boots away. She looked at him and said, "I no want to." He told her she needed to put the boots away or go sit in the corner, thinking she would obviously choose the first.

She went and put herself in the corner and said, "I no want to." Parker starts laughing, which does not help the situation, she thinks she is being cute and funny (which she was) rather than naughty and stubborn (which she also was).

Twelve years from now should be interesting.

Easton, the fireman

Easton's class got to go to the fire station this past week and he was so excited! They talked about fire safety in the lesson before, so he thought he was an expert.
The fireman telling the kids about the truck.

Each kid got a fire hat, sticker, and pencil.

Mommy and Easton
(I took Keagan too, but she was scared in the bay where they keep the truck, so I almost wish I would have left her with her grandma.)
Grandma called after naps and asked us if we wanted to come over and help rake leaves. Easton loves doing this, so we went over. He had to put on his boots and his hat because he was a fireman for the rest of the day.
Keagan was scared of the leaf blower. Anything that makes noise and she is scared of it.....

Fairyland

For Keagan's birthday I attempted to create a fairyland in our living room. (Daddy and Easton escaped to do "boy stuff," which means getting the car washed and a hair cut.) She had a few friends over and they got to be dusted with pixie dust and get wings, a wand, and a butterfly hair clip. I thought it turned out cute. The little girls were so excited, which makes it all worth it.

Aubrey, Macie, Haylie
Keagan wouldn't stand still for the group picture...but I thought it was so cute how all the girls were all pink. Very girly and sweet.

Cupcakes are the best if you shove a whole handful in your mouth, just so you know.
I have had this doll in our house for about a month now. My friend, Kristi, made it and I have been impatiently waiting for Keagan's birthday to give it to her. I love it.
My mom gave Keagan some mittens, hat, and boots for winter and of course, Keagan had to try them on with her fairy outfit. I think the outfit works, don't you?

Happy Birthday Keagan!

2 years have come and gone since our fiery red-head joined us. It has been two years of laughing so hard at her silly antics, pulling my hair out at her stubbornness, and having my heart melt at her sweetness.

Our family of four. (I can't get over how little Easton is in this picture...younger than Keagan is now.)

Just home from the hospital.

Oh, Keagan, how I love you. You are a joy and the sunshine to my day....even when you are driving me crazy. I hope you will continue to be a strong, sweet, happy girl.

pumpkin patch

Easton's preschool had their first field trip yesterday. We went to the pumpkin patch.
Easton has been talking about it for a couple of weeks and he was so excited.
Listening to the lady say the rules.
Katelyn, Easton, Keagan
This was Easton's favorite part. The only way I can describe it is as a huge plastic pillow that you can bounce on. He loved it. Keagan liked it when I was holding her, but wouldn't attempt it on her own.

My cowboy.
I think this picture is so funny. Easton being so dramatic.

our bi-monthly retreat

While up in PC this past weekend, we had to go to the park.
This digging toy takes such concentration.
(I catch myself doing the same thing when I am doing something hard--sticking out my tongue.)

The toy is obviously too big for Keagan, but she had to try it anyway.

Easton has developed a lot more confidence in himself lately and is becoming more willing to try things. I love it.

out and about

We decided we needed to get out and go to the park with Grandma and have a picnic.
It was a beautiful day and we loved it.

feeding the ducks

wading in the fountain

she loved it
yes, we did notice this after. hmmm...did it stop us? no.
We didn't swim...just a little wading.
